Wisteria 2 Watercolor

wisteria2scaled

I haven’t painted in awhile – combination of being busy and being blocked. But I got an urge tonight and decided to do a take 2 of my wisteria painting. I’m having trouble with composition also but thinking about water. Hope you likey 🙂

Sunset Lake Watercolor

Experimenting with reflections. I’m finding that paper matters. I’ve been using Canson all this time and have been having a hard time with it drying quickly or not getting the blending or water to behave. I thought it was me until I bought Arches and everything seems to work better for me. Has anyone else noticed this?

In The Treetops Watercolor

inthetreetopsscaledThis painting is loosely based off of a counted cross stitch pattern that we have. Although this doesn’t do the original stitching justice, I kind of like it. I started off using a black and blue background and painting everything with gouache but it just didn’t look right so I redid it using transparent watercolors. Hope you likey 🙂

Yesteryear Roses Watercolor

Another rose attempt with a spiffy, colorful background in neutrals. To me, this has kind of an ‘old’ feel hence the name. No real plan here – just paint. There are so many talented artists among my WordPress friends – I hope I can be as good as you guys some day.

Colorful Leaves Watercolor

Experimenting with negative painting a little so I just did some simple leaves. The majority of the lines were done by the end of one of my brushes that has an angled scraper shaped tip. (not sure what it’s called) I added water droplets in place of salt in order to get that bloom effect but they went away because I think the paper was too wet and the paint blended together. But I like the colors. 🙂

Tell me what you think. 🙂
